Maintaining your vehicle’s tyres is an important part of motoring. At Vision Vauxhall we can carry out a Tyre Health Check to ensure that your tyres are roadworthy.
We check your tyres by taking three readings across the width of the tyre. We start with the outside tread depth measurement and if we find any excessive variance in the three readings this may indicate the need for a wheel alignment check to avoid further excessive wear.
Maximum Tyre Tread: 8mm
Minimum Legal Limit: 1.6mm
Maximum Usable Tread: 6.4mm
As a rough guide, 1mm of the tyre tread lasts approximately 1,000-4,000 miles – depending on your driving style, the road and weather conditions and the tyre rubber compound.
Illegal Tyres = Penalty Warning
For every tyre offence there is a maximum fine of £2,500 with discretionary disqualification and a compulsory driving license endorsement of 3 penalty points.
